The Final 30

Throughout this assignment I have managed to develop my photography abilities and developed new skills and ways to find inspiration. This unit has taught me allot in terms of the way in which a photograph should be taken, considering the Rule of Thirds and Golden mean. There are many different ways in which an image can be enhanced but personally I found one of my favourite ways was to make the image black and white and add in an object of colour. Ive tried to do most of the editing within the camera ensuring that it was correctly colour balanced and the frame was tight, and simply just touching up and cropping within Photoshop. Below are my 30 final images

Keith Cooper

Keith Cooper is professional photographer who specialises in fine art black and white landscape photography and says that black and white can emphasis the structure of a scene, and that removing the colour can add something to it, revealing detail that you wouldnt otherwise have noticed. I aspire much towards Keiths landscape work, and his photography has without doubt been an inspiration on mine, as something so simple as taking out the colour really does have such an impact on the photograph.

Collections

For this task we were asked to create some sort of collection of photographs. So using photoshop ive created 3 different montages. Ive taken a major liking for pigeons, as i find they always take a good picture :P I also decided to use different types of drains and gutters, where Ive tried to create a border with the lines. Another collection I did was on road signals, which at times proved very dangerous to get the snap, here they are.....

Another Journey

This outing was an opportunity for me to really experiment with what I had learnt over the duration of the photography course, putting into practise the Golden mean and rule of thirds, and using many different angles to create a better impact... here are some of my best

Manipulating

This is one of my favourite pictures yet, and really wanted to play around with it, so decided to edit the greyscale and leave the mirror in the centre in colour, and also unfortunately there is bird poo or something on the mirror, just to left of the Spinnaker, so have to get rid of that. So this was the original image...

Using the clone stamp with a fine brush and zooming in, I managed to select different areas of the cloud to cover the dirt. Finding the correct texture of the cloud was quite difficult, here is the result after...

Now what I wanted to do was to eliminate the colour from the picture apart from the mirror, so i went to the layers tab and duplicated the layer and then clicked desaturate in image adjustments to turn the picture black and white. Then i simply just selected the eraser brush and carefully went over the mirror to reveal what i wanted in colour. Easy peasy but yet I love this picture!! Unfortunatley Im unable to do screen grabs as Im not sure how :/

Three of my Best

Here are three of what I feel to be my most proudest images. I’ve captured these photographs taking into consideration the Rule of Thirds and ensured that the eyes attention is automatically drawn to the centre of the image.

Taking out the color

I’ve selected a handful of some of my favourite photos and taken them into Photoshop and changed the greyscale along with cropping a few edges where needed. Something so simple but yet it changes the impact of my photographs so much and makes them much more attractive to the eye. In some of these photos I’ve also noticed that I’ve managed to capture the golden ratio along with the rule of thirds :)

Old Portsmouth

On my trip to Old Portsmouth I found many different things to capture that I felt were inspirational, such as views, peering through holes and old war towers. I spent around three hours just taking photographs and admiring how beautiful all the scenary was. Especially the beach which was so calming and peacfull. Heres are some of my best photographs :)
